Joy Division - “Disorder”
With two documentaries released about this band within the last year, it’s time to acknowledge the long-standing influence of the English rock band Joy Division. Unfortunately, they never toured the US together as the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis marked the end of the band and the beginning of New Order. This track is from Joy Division’s 1979 album, Unknown Pleasures, which was the first of only two studio albums. Listening to this track makes many values we seek in several modern rock genres seem old; at least 30 years old anyway.
This was the first Joy Division song I ever fell in love with, so imagine my delight seeing it posted on Tuneage. Firstly, that meant I didn’t have to upload it myself. Also, it’s not only me who really likes it. That drum part right after the intro? My personal favorite part of the entire song.
