“Empathy Quotient”
Your score: 13The test is here, if you’re interested. I don’t think it’s indicative of anything at all. If anything, it perpetuates the stereotype that people with autism are psychologically incapable of empathy. Balls. The questions are culturally dependent and not really dealing with empathy as much as social etiquette and behavior. I’m often very wary of the capability of multiple-choice quizzes to tell me anything significant about my psychological make-up. Also, I’m not autistic; at least, not that I know about. But I took it anyway. (Yes, I’ve taken the Meyers-Briggs ones as well, because I had to for an exercise in my Mellon internship, and incidentally, I’m an INTP.)
0 - 32 = low (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 20)
33 - 52 = average (most women score about 47 and most men score about 42)
53 - 63 is above average
64 - 80 is very high
80 is maximum
